Historical venues always impress with their timeless charm and storied halls, but few are as unique as the floating wonder that is the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. Glamorously constructed in 1930, the Queen Mary set the benchmark in transatlantic travel at the time, boasting famous passengers such as Clark Gable, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, and Winston Churchill. The ship has worn many hats over the years, spending war years as a troopship before returning to serve passengers. Today, the Queen Mary has been restored to her original glory and is now a floating hotel, famed attraction, and a one-of-a-kind destination for unforgettable weddings in Southern California!
As one could imagine, wedding ceremonies aboard the Queen Mary enjoy full advantage of the perfect California weather and the sparkling Pacific Ocean views. A picturesque white gazebo is set against the blue of the sky and the ocean, providing the perfect spot to say, “I do.” Alternatively, a ceremony can be set up on the Verandah Deck. An intimate, warm, and private ceremony unfolds in the Queen Mary Royal Wedding Chapel, where an air of classic sophistication combined with regal décor make for a ceremony fit for royalty. The celebration can continue outside under the moonlight or in one of the Queen Mary’s Art Deco ballrooms. Exuding the style of the ship’s era of birth and featuring a wealth of handcrafted touches like exquisite wood paneling, original Art Deco light fixtures, etched-glass doors, original murals, and luxuriously carved marble fireplaces, each space the Queen Mary presents is unique and filled with charm, history, and character. At the end of the night, be sure to take a stroll out onto the deck to admire the oceanfront scene!
