The earthy scent of redwoods greet guests at Roaring Camp Railroads, where a 100-year-old steam train transports guests deep into the heart of the breathtaking Santa Cruz Mountains. Kicking off a special celebration with a dash of adventure goes a long way in these parts. The natural beauty of the open meadows and forested coastal mountains encourages relief from the everyday, granting a casual, carefree atmosphere that lingers late into the evening. And these are just some of the things that make weddings at Roaring Camp Railroads what they are—an experience to remember.
At the Cathedral Grove, couples can exchange vows beneath the canopy of the “Fairy Circle,” a ring of ancient, giant redwoods formed as a result of three generations of growth. The beauty and symbolism of the circle offers an intimate, cathedral-like setting for vows, while the private train ride to the Grove builds gleeful anticipation for every guest onboard. Alternatively, the wedding ceremony can take place on the Schoolhouse Lawn, a lush, idyllic setting accented by majestic oak trees and an old-fashioned, one-room schoolhouse. As the sun sets, the celebration continues outdoors with a lively barbecue and lawn games, or under Bret Harte Hall’s 32-foot wooden ceiling and glowing chandeliers. As one could imagine, the vintage train ride through the redwoods is a unique option that will always prove to be a favorite treat among all. As for wedding photos, Roaring Camp Railroads’ collection of scenic spots, including the covered bridge, steam train depot, and redwood forests make for photos right out of a storybook!
