Sitting alongside the tree-lined streets and historic buildings of downtown Pleasanton, Barone’s has served as a neighborhood favorite since its arrival in March of 1995. With rightful claim in the notable, vibrant history of the intimate district, the restaurant offers an innovative fine dining experience within its sophisticated yet laid-back atmosphere. Nurtured by Bay Area natives with mutual passions for food and the restaurant business, Barone’s history tells the admirable story of Joe Barone and Maricela Orozco Barone. Having met in 1991 and married in 1993, Joe and Maricela’s dreams came true when they were met with the opportunity to purchase their very own eatery. With a dash of luck and plenty of hard work, the couple fostered the growth of the restaurant into one of Pleasanton’s premier establishments. Showcasing a dynamic blend of historic charm, lush scenery, and contemporary accents, Barone’s continues to play host to truly memorable events.
Framed by trimmed hedges, boxwood topiaries, and towering trees in the background, Barone’s quaint exterior radiates invitation. Flowering planters lining the windows pour out handfuls of lively, rogue sprigs, adding to the sense of familiar, neighborhood charm that makes the restaurant so popular with the locals. A bubbling fountain gurgles near the entrance, welcoming guests as they approach the scarlet door. Inside, a medley of old-world elements cultivates a warm, refined look across the dining room. The walls are washed in caramel, with copper accents gracing the mirrors and chandeliers. A marble fireplace gently roars in the background, drawing up a warm atmosphere perfectly suited for a celebration. A private, tented deck boasts a uniquely contemporary feel, complete with crystal chandeliers that accentuate the shimmering quality of the silver drapes. A step out to the garden and courtyard offers an unexpected spread of verdant splendor. Mature cypress and palm trees stretch their weighted arms to meet the soft gradient of the sky, while also serving as a natural backdrop to the delightful white gazebo resting in the corner. A spectacular giant oak completes the lush garden, delicately adorned with twinkling stars and gleaming chandeliers that form globes of light under the canopies of green. Dotted with cabanas and cascading fountains, the gardens at Barone’s is full of effortless drama and lit with lively energy.
